Here we are again! Going against the pessimistic feeling of our time, we have decided to send our own message of optimism by honoring the environment through our creativity, our imagination, and our need to smile, to share and to continue the tradition which we have all so loved and supported over the years: The Carnival of Rethymnon. This year’s theme is dedicated to “Wind”. Last year we honored Mother Earth, we were ‘cleansed’ by the strength of ‘water’ and this year we are allowing the revitalizing force of the ‘wind’ to cleanse our mind – to drive away misery leaving us with only hope for the future. It is the ‘wind’ that will put an end to our low spirits feeding our soul with beauty and giving us the strength of mind to release ourselves from the trials and tribulations of our everyday life. So, we welcome you once again to our town, where we will open together Aeolus’ bag of winds-anemoi. Winds which will only blow positive energy and optimism and finally everything will turn out well as long as we are together giving, sharing and hoping. Enjoy the carnival!

Organising Comittee's Greetings Rethymnon for us is the place where we grew up, fell in love and where we fulfilled our dreams. It is a place with unmatched natural beauty, hospitable and friendly people and where the wisdom of our elders and the vitality of our youth go hand in hand. We invite you to get into the rhythm of our carnival and to share with us the brighter side of life and the need for creativity and ‘wind’. It is this ‘wind’ that will ‘blow’ through the carnival of Rethymno taking with it all our troubles and giving us in return a ‘breath of fresh air’ and optimism, which we all need. From February 13th till Ash Monday March 7th, thousands of carnival performers will be conveying the important message of saving and protecting our environment and let us hope that the cool aura of the ‘wind’ will flood our hearts with vitality, joy and inspiration. Let the Eurus wind blow, our voyage has begun………
